BENTON — November 2, 2026. Mono County Free Library warns that Benton library’s exterior wireless internet is limited on school days because the branch is located on the Edna Beaman Elementary School campus.
The security rule
The branch’s posted notice says weekday outside Wi-Fi can be used only while the library is open during the school year. It says weekend outdoor Wi-Fi may remain accessible even when the building is closed.
Access differs from branch service
The library’s normal indoor hours are 1–5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Wi-Fi coverage does not promise open building doors, staff support, public restrooms or access to computers at other times.
A useful detail for rural residents
For families and remote workers relying on a shared broadband hotspot, school-campus safety protocols affect when they can connect. Verify current arrangements at 760-933-2542 before making a trip solely for internet access.
